Actually, trying to warm thae carb from the outside is mostly a waste of time. The air going throough it cools it faster than you can warm it. The best way is to make a shield that goes around the muffler and runa flex pipe from that to the air inlet to the cleaner. This warms the air going into the carburetor and prevents ice build-up inside. Have the same trouble with carburated airplanes, and this is how they do it.
