ok im posting this on the farmall board because there are folks on here who understand hydraulics, and its a farm truck, and its painted farmall red, lol now, on my 1983 chevy 1 ton flatbed dump, which ive had since new, the hoist had got to where it was struggeling to lift the bed, checked the fluid, no leaks and its full, the ram wasnt bent from overloading it, nothing is worn on the hinges or other piviot points, [ sissors hoist] the cylinder is double acting, ive never powered it down, as it will drop in the normal fashion just by pushing the controll on the dash in, but with nothing to loose, i powered it down until it jambed down on the truck frame, heard what sounded like air bubles,now the hoist works fine, what the??? now as long as the hoist is powered down, it works fine, if the truck sits awhile or the dump feature isnt used, it has the same problem, so, where is the air getting in the cylinder, and fluid is not comming out i should also add if the truck is parked with the bed raised it will usually stay up as long as the dash control is in the up, or nutural, position
