Tried a little wheat yesterday. Still too wet.
The advantage I could see to the auto-steer was because he was laying it out in lands, it would drive itself straight through the field. He was cutting on a 160 acre field and once he had the arrow on the line, it drove straight across. Also with a header that wide, I could see it was easier to keep it the full width of the header.
Went to Hays yesterday and there was very little cutting that far north, so it will probably be a week in NE Ks. Probably 50% on Thursday down here, but going fast. Was pretty dry here earlier, so yield is not so good... so far my friend's is running about 31-32, and it's some of the best in the area.... some as bad as 12-14 in SW Reno.
Last I helped cut was with an L2, no grain carts and 2- single axle, 16' Chevy trucks.
