I really think you're the one who needs to step back and look at the bigger picture here. These big shows don't magically put themselves on. They are the result of years of planning and dedicated full time work from multiple people, plus the dedicated efforts of hundreds of volunteers during the show, not to mention the money that had to be shelled out up front before a single ticket was sold.
I run small shows every year for a different hobby. Nothing on the scale of a RPRU, and it's still a TON of work. I'm lucky in that I have a few dedicated people I can count on but it's still a struggle to find enough people to help out. There's always some that have all the ideas and sit there and tell you how you should do things, but when you try to get them to take charge, it's always "No, I couldn't..."

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
