John, A helicoil won't fix the damage I described. Overtorqueing will pull a chunk right out of the block and leave nothing to work with. The broken part will still look O K, but it will project above the deck about half the gasket thickness. I hope Bill doesn't have to pull that head...he may find he has nothing to put it back onto. On a similar note...I recently had a head bolt stuck so bad it refused to come out after using all the tricks. I finally got it slightly loose in the head (I could tell because it was springy), so I twisted it off with a torque wrench. It broke at 85#. George
