If you wanted to "cheat" and get by simple,just leave your original pipe in the manifold and add a "stubb" of a piece of exhaust tubing on top of it. Just long enough to keep the bottom of muffler off of the hood.
Then,if needed,you can also add to the top of the muffler outlet as well with a short piece??
Not the MOST professional way,but would keep you from having to twist that old pipe out and take a chance on breaking threads. ;)
