47farmallM,Depending on where you are in the seal going out it may leak while shut down, and leak very little to none when running! "Lower Rock Shaft Seal" Big Project to do! Send tractor to a good general tractor mechanic, will cost about $1000 to have done maybe some less,,, when I had my 966 done last yr I had both Lower Rock Shaft Seals done and adjust my Clutch and TA, Tweak my Injector pump while there at their shop. Basically drain and catch all rear-end Oil, Remove whole PTO unit. remove keepers so shaft can be removed and seals replaced!! Most all work is done through the PTO hole in the rear end!
