Thanks Mr Bill (Antique Acres). When I first hit the starter switch, pulling the starter and making sure I had a spin was the first thing I did. Its OK and remains disconnected. I will take your advice and put it in the high gear. Since this old baby is a new toy for me & Ive not done much with it other than drag some desert rocks around the house. It has hydraulics and a 18" x 72" blade at the rear. I think the gear shift is the same as a Model A Ford. High gear would be on the lower right. Thanks again.
