You gotta be careful. There is a lot of BAD advice out there, from people who are either clueless or are intentionally trying to get you to damage your tractor.
This one probably came from someone who has done it and gotten away with it. You will get away with it too, most of the time... It's that one time you DON'T get away with it that will ruin your day.
But, you've got a bad battery connection somewhere is all. Clean everything up as has been advised previously, and you will be fine.
