Injectors and /or pump. My brother-in-law bought a Ferguson TE 20 that had been fitted with a Perkins P3 diesel and it was just like that. for one thing The timing was way off, we got that sorted but it still ran rough with lots of multi-coloured smoke! I suggested that he took the injectors out and the injector pump off and took them to his local diesel specialist shop and had them tested/ serviced . He said the guy took one look at the injectors and said "Well I can see straight away these are buggered!". He put them into a machine to test the flow and they literally dribbled fuel out. He took a brand new injector and put it into his machine and said "This is what it should look like, a fine spray, but leave yours with me I am sure I can restore them". Anyway after he got them back we installed everything, started her up and the difference was incredible.
