I know it isn't a new cummins diesel.. but it still sounds totally different than our Nuffield Diesel or Perkins 3 cyl Diesel of same vintage..They were smooth and not so stinky nasty.. The B414 sounds like you can hear a diesel knock on every single cylinder firing.. and the more you fuel it the louder the knocks for a second.. Maybe it's just the super high compression ratio? But if it isn't injectors or Pre-combustion chambers.. then maybe the timing of the pump is off?? Can it be adjusted while running like tweaking a magneto into time? or is this much more involved?? I am very familiar with gas engines but never did much tinkering with the diesels.. Dad said "don't touch it and don't ever run it out of fuel" Ok... So that's what I did..
