Woods mower was around $3500 new as I recall. Maybe I'm way off but that's the number stuck in my head right now.
Of course they stopped running that Cub for a reason. Odds are that it doesn't have a freshly rebuilt engine in it. More likely it's getting a little tired and may not have enough left in it to run a 59" deck.
When the engine's running strong they work fine in normal grass on level ground. In fact we mowed my parents' place with my 1967 Cub for a few years before Dad bought a zero turn. It even handled the moderate hills there.
I mowed my own place with a 1966 Cub Lo-Boy for 4 years, and I sometimes had to take a 1/2 or 2/3 cut with the mower in order to have enough power.
