Slipping that clutch by slowly moving the lever, or if it was worn and slipping it could over heat and crack. Beyond that I have no idea. If both are worn, (not an accusation) it could be from using the clutch as a speed control. We hired a man in 1960 to work ground. he tore the clutch out of our SH in 2 hours by slipping it to slow for corners pulling a 16 ft spike drag. Jm
