Dad had a 1066 with factory TA delete back in the 1980's and early 1990's. It was a nice tractor. Had no trouble finding a suitable gear for any job (8 forward gears and 4 reverse gears). Only thing was you had to stop to shift if a speed change was desired. No shift on the fly capability minus the TA but that was no big deal for us at all.
Frankly on any roughly 40 year old tractor, I would rather have the TA delete. One less thing to fail and we all know that TA will eventually fail as it is wearing whether it is used or not.
