Its a o ring and the pin is a drive out after removing a swelled end. Have used a rod the right size cut to length for a replacement pin. Shaft removal is needed to replace, so the point plate and a few other parts are removed to slide it out. But that o ring is not made to stop a bunch of oil. If it has a hydraulic pump in front of the distributor its probably the problem. If no hydraulic pump there was a serial number break on the ignition drive housing. After break a seal was used on the drive shaft and before that no seal. Even the ones without the seal usually didn't give a problem. Mite check to see if someone used oil instead of grease in the distributor gear housing.
