George, I replaced the carb on my 806 last spring. The old carb had the shut-off solenoid valve that you described. The new one did not have the solenoid valve. As I recall, there was no adjustable screw associated with the solenoid valve. There was only a wire coming out of it. Anyway, you might as well give up on trying to cut down on fuel usage. Nothing will help. They are just pigs. I have been running Autolite 388 spark plugs since April and they have not fouled. Most of my work is at low speed and for short durations. Since installing these Autolite plugs, I have also started mixing GUNK "Lead Substitute" with my non-leaded regular gas. I think the lead substitute has done more to improve the life of the plugs than anything else I have tried. At some point in the future I will go back to using the Champion D21 spark plugs. the Champions were fouling before, but I never used the lead substitute in conjunction with the Champion plugs.
