I have attended Sheridan auctions since back when Bill Sheridan was still partners with his brother and they did the live auctions together...maybe 25 years? Always liked them and thought they were a good, clean auctioneer. Lately, though all they do is those on-line auctions and prices have been uniformly high on things. There are also some other irregularities in their auction format that trouble me. No bid history, items all end at the same time, poor contact/info. I am never completely comfortable that I am bidding against another bidder and not the owner or auction house. That being said, if I need something on their site...I buy it. Not a lot of choices left around this area anymore.
I was tipped off by Sheridan before this auction ever hit the webpage. I had a strong interest in one of the 600-650 series tractors but my budget is all allocated to working equipment this year and not collector tractors. The only one I bid on was the SMTA. Figured I would use it to replace my narrow front SMTA in the hayfield and move the NF out to the main farm and pull the sprayer with it. I like the old open station tractors and use them as much as possible. Ended up not getting the SMTA. Price was good, but not good enough.
