I'm in the process of restoring my father's 1952 M. He and I rebuilt the motor/ transmission/ rear end, installed a new clutch and brakes back in the 70's in our garage one very cold winter. I was in Jr. High, didn't know much more than I do now about tractors. He had always talked about wanting to paint it to drive in parades and go to antique tractor events with it when he retired from his business. He sold out and retired in 2000, but his Parkinson's disease advanced rapidly, we lost him this last June. To honor him, I'm granting him his wish by making "Mable" shine again. The tractor had not run in over 10 years. When rebuilding the carb this week, I went to reassemble it after soaking it in carb cleaner. When I screwed in the fuel adjusting needle, the packing fell apart. The kit I had did not have replacement for it in the package. What kind of packing can be used to replace the ruined factory packing?

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
