I have a 1958 IH 560 Standard with a D282 and a Roosa-Master DBGFC631-1AE injection pump. The pump developed a leak off the bottom of the housing on the back end. The leak seemed to be somewhere around the o-ring between the steel pump body and the aluminum housing, or the o-ring between the transfer pump head and body. I checked the seal rings on the fuel lines just to make sure one wasn't cracked. They were fine. The tractor ran fine, once I got it started, which took a while. I tore the pump off and apart, installed a new pilot tube and seal kit. It leaks just as bad if not worse now. It is definitely leaking between the transfer pump head and the pump body. I did not see anything wrong with the original o-ring other than it was flattened out of course. I have had the head off this three times trying to see a problem, carefully reinstalling it to keep it square with the body, including using a feeler gauge to check evenness when tightening to the 25 inch pound torque. The new o-ring seems fine, has about .025" protrusion above the surface of the pump liner ring, but I can't get it to stop leaking. The housing, liner, and head casting seem fine, no cracks, scores, scratches. I can feel the plunger rattle when I shake the head. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I may try gluing up a fatter o-ring, permatex, or if I get mad, resort to JB Weld if I can't get this pretty soon. This is my first DB, although I have disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled a pump I had years ago on an old TD 9 track loader. I am a Journeyman machinist, millwright, and currently a maintenance manager and CNC machine service tech for a large machine shop, so I have some mechanical and troubleshooting abilities.
