Make sure the lead to the kill switch is not grounded, it must be neither grounded nor connected to any source of voltage (the kill switch is "open" when in the run position. The wire from the coil to the points, the wire connection to the condenser, and the connection to the side of the mag must not be touching ground. Several places are suspect for this issue, the through bolt at the kill terminal, the connector terminal ends on the wires out of place touching the case, or a point spring out of place touching something. If an ohm meter is touched to the kill terminal, and the points are kept open with a sliver of plastic, the reading is usually between one and 3 ohms. If much less it is shorted, if open There is a break in the system or the mag is not grounded (Paint making an insulator from housing to mag) Jim
