Agree on the diesel with respect to power, but I react poorly to diesel fumes and vapors to I need to stick to gas or propane.
Have a few questions on the IH 464 when used with the 6ft. reverse till Land Pride:
1. Land Pride recommends running the PTO @ 540 for greatest tiller efficiency and smoothness of operation, which I believe is the rated RPM when the engine is throttled to 2400rpm. If I throttle back the engine RPM to half rated ( 1200 ) I would end up with half the tractor speed but I think I would also be turning the PTO at only half the recommended RPM (270) would I not? This would slow the tractor down but decrease the efficiency of the tiller, if I understand what Land Pride is saying. So if I have this right-- there is no way on this tractor to slow the engine speed without directly effecting the PTO rpm?
I have attached some pics of the gear shift levers and pto levers fyi.
2. The tractor appears to have two locations for attaching anti-sway bars (see attached pic). One right next to the 3 point lift arm, and one further outboard from that (circled in pic). the current owner is using the closest to the 3 point pivot to attach his anti-sway bar to, it would seem that using the one circled (further outboard would work better to prevent side to side motion since it is further away from the 3 point lift arm. Any comments on this?
3.Can you recommend any good sources for IH parts? rear wheels, draw bar is missing from tractor, and the plastic piece that surrounds the 4 gages is broken and needs replacing.
thanks for any further information you might offer!

How did I get this way? I came from the suburbs and own a small horse farm in rural Loudoun County, Virginia. You can call me a "weekend farmer." The local farmers do. Does it bother me? No. I am just happy to have their friendship. At least the word "farmer" is in my title. But what is the attraction? How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
