Steve: Something that your friend should consider in addition to obtaining the PTO "unit" itself is how it's going to get power from the engine (or, possibly, the transmission). Assuming the 240U is similar to my 300U, non-PTO-equiped versions lacked the portions of the driveline necessary to power the PTO. If they're not there in his tractor, and I'm assuming they are not, he's first going to have to buy them, and then do a pretty major job to install them, probably including splitting the tractor in a couple of places, and probably other mechanically intense stuff as well. I'm speaking from a somewhat ignorant perspective here, but I'd caution him to look what he's getting into over very carefully before jumping into it. Would probably be more economical to find another tractor that already has the PTO. Anyway that's my 2-cents' worth, and it may not be worth that much. Good luck.
