The heavy wire from the alternator goes to the amp gauge on the same side as the wires to the lights and the wire to the ignition switch. This will allow the amp gauge to accurately show the amount of charge or discharge. The other terminal on the amp gauge goes to the starter (heavy) switch on the starter, connecting to the stud that directly connects to the battery + post (real big wire). If there was a generator on the M prior to this conversion, and it was positive ground, the amp meter terminal connections will need to be reversed so it shows charge correctly. The coil will need to be reversed so the negative side is to the distributor. This keeps its polarity correct. Jim
