As Gary said do be sure to verify that the transmission is not filled with water. These old units were not designed to keep water out of the transmission, just to minimize it. Running would evaporate the water out after the rain had passed. Now we seldom run them enough to heat up the transmission so you either have to keep it sheltered or drain the water regularly.
