I have one on a 300 and it works pretty well but it has to be plugged in at least two hours ahead to do any good at all, longer is better. I would think that you would need more time on a SMTA since they have so much more engine to heat. A tank heater plumbed into the block is faster to heat and has a much bigger element, but it is more expensive and uglier, and more of a risk of catching on tree branches or such if you use your tractor in the brush or woods.
