Thanks for the replies. I know buying old iron is a crap shoot at best. I figure if he still has it after the 1st of the year I'll go look at it and try to do a little trading with him. I have a friend with a trailer large enough to haul the tractor and another friend with a truck to do the job so I might get it hauled for fuel and a favor to be paid at a later date. The engine may not be stuck but I won't know until I check it myself. If I could get it running for a couple hundred $ it would be a great buy. With the cost of new tractors today I think a re-buildable old one has real value.
