'49 M I picked up last spring with replacement motor. "H" casting date should be 1963 if I counted correctly. I was a little surprised that they kept the same part number for the head.
It has fire crater pistons and is pretty clean inside. One cylinder was dark and probably got wet. Water jacket, thermostat housing etc, was pretty rusty. All the water had been drained but this thing came from west Texas and I'll bet they ran some nasty well water in it or something. The jacket cover/baffle was all eat up so I replaced that too.
It should be operational in another week or two. Pulled cover and cleaned out rear case/trans. Replaced every seal on rear case, pilot bearing and input assembly bearings, re-lined clutch disk. Have left to re-install radiator, gas tank, steering, re-wire, four tires and three point.
