Hi Jim, Did you check the alternator or water pump for being seized? Try loosening fan belt.
On the 444 you have a dual stage clutch, half way down, releases the transmission clutch, all the way down releases the pto clutch. If the tractor had been running 5 minutes before very unlikely transmission clutch is stuck to flywheel. If the tractor doesn't have a front end loader or 3pt equipment resting on the ground, then put the gear shift in neutral and try rolling tractor fwd/rev by pushing on rear tire. If there is a front end loader or 3pt implement on the ground then block one rear wheel and jack the other rear wheel off the ground and try rotating rear wheel with transmission in neutral, then put transmission in 4th HI and hold clutch down an try rotating rear wheel. IF rear wheel will turn in both the above cases then there is no transmission or drive shaft problem. Next try with clutch engaged rocking rear wheel in reverse and see if engine will turn over in rev.
Could be various problems in engine causing problem: 1) Finger fell off pressure plate or other metal is wedged between bell housing - open inspection plate in bottom of bell housing and inspect pressure plate and release bearing. 2) Valve stem broke and valve dropped into cylinder and is now preventing piston from going to TDC - turning engine in rev should allow some movement - also remove the tappet cover and inspect all valves, tappets and springs. 3) Crank or rod bearing stuck to the crank. 4) Something jamming timing gears. 5) Something jamming hydraulic pump(s) 6) Something jamming oil pump 7) Something jamming injection pump

No. I am just happy to have their friendship. At least the word "farmer" is in my title. But what is the attraction? How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
