The tractor has been in my family for a while. It's serial numbers match...the plate and the engine block. It's a '37 model. I've always been told and from my own research IH offered a conversion as a kit that allowed you to add on most all of the F-14 'upgrade' parts to an F-12. Everything that made an F-14 what it was from the factory had been added to this tractor...steering post, longer brake levers, higher seat post, the head, gears in the transmission were changed, governor spring.
I've added a few of my own options just to make it more of a conversation piece...3-bolt air cleaner mount, power lift unit, Heisler manifold and will soon have a Heisler overdrive on it.
I'm not trying to fool anyone. I find the history of the model fascinating. I'm always learning more about them.
My grandfather bought the tractor sometime in the early 50s from the original owner. Another cool side note to the story is my wife's grandfather grew up in the same area. He picked up hay and worked on threshing crews for the man who originally owned it. He remembers the tractor back when it was new and also recalls the time when the conversion was done. Tells me how jealous he was that his father wouldn't spend the money to do the conversion on the F-12 that his family owned.

Top that off with an old set of '36 Ford headlight shells bolted to the hood. Pretty unlikely for a car... but for a tractor, this is pretty normal. It seems that more often than not they a
