Hi Red Raider. I can adjust the Mag timing on my Cub without removing the hood, don't know about dist. ignition but I suspect its not that different mount wise. What you might want to try first is to remove the air cleaner tube and "mist" some WD-40 or carb clean in front of the carb intake while the engine is idling. If the miss clears up you could be too lean or possibly have a vacuum leak on the intake manifold. What color are the plugs? Are they all sooty colored? Your carb could be too rich or the plugs too cold.Is this motor a fresh rebuild? If so you might have a tight valve, (Stem to guide clearance), it might be "sticking" now and then. Try a little lead substitute gas additive.(It clears up the same kind of "no load miss" on my Cub) If ignition and Carb adjustments fail to help you may want to possibly check your valve lash. Just a couple of thoughts. Post your results. Geoff
