The original cork material is available on flebay for like $2 or $3 often with free shipping included. Other vendors sell em too. I bought the ones from ebay for both my h and m with zero regrets. As of others have stated you can cut a piece of leather from an old shoe of belt and use in a pinch too.
I love the M&W friction throttles. The key to making them work properly though is to put in a slightly longer carriage bolt on the spring adjuster bolt so it can be double nutted. Once double nutted the friction adjustment always stays exactly where you adjust it and will never lessen unless your scrap friction material deteriorates. I have not adjusted either of mine in any way in 2-3 years of use and they stay wher I put em. In comparison single nut or a single nylok locking nut will almost always loosen up real quick like (Like same day) from where you adjust it with simply throttle movements spinning the nut.
