Put a neon voltage tester between ground and the connection on the distributor side of the coil and run it while watching the neon light. If the volt reading There is going to be enough stray voltage to make it flash. If it stumbles and quits flashing as the tractor does, it is likely in the points/condenser. Another not mentioned issue could be the charge rate of the alternator. If much over 14.8 volts it can over heat the ballast resistor and or coil and cause failure. A test light on the key side of the coil will test the supply side voltage. if it fails, the key/resistor/wiring is faulty. Jim
