Looks like going forward is working quite okay in working towards the goal of getting that driveway cleared to me.
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get it done with the limitations of the equipment at hand. Old antique tractors are usually limited in gear choices as it is. That said going forward gives you 4 working speeds (not counting road gear) compared to only 1 reverse gear so an advantage.
Also very few tractors have down pressure on the 3 point so they want to ride up when you push in reverse unless the blade is real heavy. 3 point arms are designed for pulling anyway and very suspectible to getting bent when pushing (although it can be done with care).
Good job plowing that snow and good job on the custom fenders too.
