My gear shifter has a lot of slop in it. It will go into gear 90% of the time but sometimes it will not go into 1st but if I put it into 3rd and back into 1st it will go in. I'm wondering if a linkage or somthing is worn out. The guy I bought the tractor from said somthing about there is a ball in there that is probably broken and needs to be welded. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution also if I take the cover off to take a gander in there is it difficult to put it back together I have a buddy who has restored s cub and he said it would be best to let it be but I conside myself mechanically inclined I can usually fix stuff if I understand how it's supposed to work. Sorry for blowing up the fourm with my questions but hey I'm only 23 and working on stuff 3 times my age.
