I used Red-Kote myself on a Farmall H gas tank after having it boiled out, and the stuff worked great. Follow the directions, slosh it around real good, and upside down and all around, top and bottom, and pour out the excess, let it drip out, let it dry over a few days, AND DO NOT TRY TO PUT A DOUBLE-COAT INSIDE. Save the stuff in a fruit jar, and for a whie you can coat tools, tool handles, screw-drivers,e tc. with a nice red. I did notiice the fuel that came out, was a slight red tint for a few tankfuls. No bother.
