Scientific evidence show that this planet was at different time completely frozen over and completely thawed out (no ice caps). Change does happen naturally whether we do anything or not.
The trend lately seems to be hotter hots and colder colds, wetter wets and dryer droughts. I believe the planet can re-balance itself, but we may not like where that new balance point is.
Unfortunately change is difficult because the world's economy is based on consumption.
The other problems are: 1. The wolves who will use any real problem as leverage to take advantage and make big money off the situation. 2. Bureaucratic types who will use any opportunity to gain more control over the populace.
Frequently these two groups are working together and then you don't know what to believe as their success is determined by how badly they can scare people.
