Cowman, your rain, as mine, occurs mostly between March and November. It begins usually in March and peaks in May or June then declines through July to November. Although anything can happen in any month. I am in SW Kansas, maybe 10 inches of snow in addition to an inch or so of actual rain has occurred this winter -- it seldom rains in the winter. The dry period in the winter and spring of 2013 I believe was very similar to the dust bowl in the 30's in terms of drought and temperature. The only reason there was not much dust was due to the ground being covered and no plowing that buried everything. 2014 was a lot better and "almost" has ended our drought. No one knows what we will have this summer -- at least hope for the average, which here is 18-19 inches per year. Somewhat off the subject, I suppose.
