Since nobody else has answered you, I'll jump in. I'm as far from an expert as you'll find, but I just changed mine recently, and it's not too tough. I'm restoring my SC, so I had the pump off, but I'd say you can probably replace them without removing the pump. I was alone when I decided the pump just had to come off right then. It did, but I've been able to hit higher notes ever since - the pump is HEAVY.

First, I'd recommend that you get replacement o-rings from the dealer because they are slightly different than what you'll find in the local hardware store. The hardware store variety may work, but the only ones I could find were not quite as thick, so I didn't feel comfortable with them. While you're at it, you might as well change both sides to prevent having to do it again anytime soon.

Another thing you'll probably need is the dust boots. Mine had remnants of the orignal leather ones, which were attached with safety wire. The new ones are rubber and just snap over the pump body. They're a little pricey, but I don't like the thought of leaving the shafts completely open to the elements.

Now that you're ready to replace the seals, the first step is to thoroughly degrease everything. It gets pretty grimy up under those old pumps - particularly when there's a leak which attracts dirt. Once everything is clean, it's time to remove the pistons. First, back out the hex screw on the end of the piston, which will allow you to then remove the retaining pin. Once that's done, it's a pretty simple matter of manipulating the control valve lever out of the way and then extract the piston - you should be able to pull it out by hand. It's a fairly tight fit, but they'll come all the way out.

Once the pistons are out, remove the old o-rings, clean the pistons, install the new rings and reassemble. While you're at it, it would be a nice opportunity to clean your strainer. Refill the fluid and you should be set. Good luck....
