Well to replace the head gasket you have to drain the cooling system. Also very likely to have to do an oil change since your likely to get coolant in the oil even with the cooling system drained. Then you have to pull the valve cover off to get to the head bolts. Remove the bolts then clean up the head and block. Also have to remove the rocker arm assembly and the push rods. Good idea to stick the push rods in carb board so they go back where that came out of. Then you do the reverse of those thing and torque the head down to spec so you need a torque wrench and then adjust the valves since that will change due to the new head gasket. Best to have the I-T manual IH-8 before you even get started
