Hi Lee, Yes, the outer cover will come off without pulling the worm gear and assembly. There are a couple of "o" rings in there to check, and hopefully that is the extent of the problem. There are some springs and "plungers" to keep an eye on, but it is pretty obvious how they go back together - just be careful to not lose them as you pull it out. Don't be too worried about the worm assembly - you can't get it out without lifting the upper bolster off the lower bolster while at the same time having the left side rail removed - it isn't going to fall out in your lap on its own. (I'm basing this on a Farmall 560D) A leak around the outside of the cover turned out to be a cracked sleeve on mine, and I hear that it is a common problem. Lets hope you have a bad "O" ring! Give a yell if this doesn't make sense! Sam.
