Converting to 12V is not hard to do. I did it on 2 Farmall Bs. I think 6V was a mistake from the start thats why we are at 12V and there is talk of cars going to 42V. (This is also why electrical companies transmit power at high voltage). With a 12V system you run 1/2 the current as 6V and get the same power. This is why the 12V is more robust. Voltage drop = current X resistance. Resistance comes in the form of bad or dirty electrical connections. With a 6V system you get more voltage drop across bad/dirty/rusty connections and you only have 6V to start with so you can't afford to have drops. This explains why the 6V system needs to be well maintained. Look in the Article Archives on the details of converting. It really isn't that hard to do. Upgrade Alternator (different one or rebuild), starter (maybe rebuild), ballast resistor if using 6V coil (otherwise get 12V coil), reverse wires at Ammeter, switch to 12V light builbs --- Done Good Luck

Timing Your Magneto Ignition Tractor - by Chris Pratt. If you have done major engine work or restored your tractor, chances are you removed the magneto and spark plug wires and eventually reached the point where you had to put it all back together and make it run. On our first cosmetic restoration, not having a manual, we carefully marked the wires, taped the magneto in the position it came off, and were careful not to turn the engine over while we had these components off. We thought we could get by with this since the engine ran perfectly and would not need any internal work. After the cleanup and painting was done, we began reassembly and finally came to t
