Sounds like a good idea. Maybe there's some kind of plastic liner that could be inserted in the fill hole, and then expanded to create a liner. Would have to remove floats, pumps, or anything else inside the tank first, then somehow get the fuel outlet lined up. The cost of the whole operation might exceed the cost of a new tank. Probably would be cheaper after the first 10,000 repaired--there's savings in numbers.
