I don't have a book in front of me right now, but, I think that the pto/belt horsepower was 16.1. Drawbar was 12 or 13 HP. Drawbar HP is from the Nebraska tests and is the actual amount of work the tractor did in the test field. This took into account more than just a theoretical brake HP at the flywheel, this includes tractor weight, traction and ground speed under load. I have a 1940 B and I agree that it is not a very practical working tractor for todays needs since it lacks hydraulics, a three point hitch and loader. These can be added, but, not all that easily. My grandfather had a BN with a loader, the hydraulics came from a pto mounted unit, but, it wasn't a real great loader tractor. I still like owning my B because it is fun to drive around and so easy to work on. My advise is buy a small modern tractor with a loader to work with and use the B for a fun restoration project.
