Anton, don't take the unit off the tractor, remove the bottom half of the steering box by first removing the steering arm which you can now do because you have the axle out of your way. Now remove the bottom half and get it out of your way. Next remove three 5/16" bolts that hold the verticle steering shaft in place and remove the shaft. Play in steering results from up/down play in this shaft usually caused by bad upper bearing or missing snap ring on top of it; bearing at the end of the steering wheel shaft, evident by the shaft moving in and out of the case when turning the steering wheel back and forth; play at the point where the steering arm attaches to the verticle steering shaft; worn keyway in the gear on the verticle steer shaft.
