The rims for an M will not fit the W-6. The W-6 has smaller wheels. I'm more familiar with the M. Never had much to do with a W-6 although I would not mind having one if the price was right. I suppose you look for about the same things as you would on an any old Farmall such as: Condition of tires, Steering(how tight), stored inside or out, engine turns or locked up, look for cracks in the castings, especially the engine, can you shift through all the gears in the trans, condition of brakes and so on. For the price of $650, expect to spend several times that to restore the thing if that is what you are planning.
