My H was the same color. Had not been drained for who knows how long. I suspect the color has to do with water leaking in through the bolt holes in the top cover over time. I drained it all out then put in some diesel, a little gas and followed it up with about of gallon of 90 wt til it ran clean. Then filled it up with 6 gallons of 90 wt. I will probably drain and refill again this summer.
