This summer I installed an accel supercoil on my 300U thinking that it wasn't a bad idea, could't hurt. It worked fine, couldn't see any major benefit. Until last week 1/14/01, I hadn't started the tractor in approx 3 mos. I had to clear the driveway of a recent snow. I pulled out my portable jumper box(a very handy gift) hooked it up and turned the key and the motor started to turn. In about 3 sec. (at exactly the same time I realized I hadn't pulled the choke) she fired up into a slow idle, gave a little gas and she settled into a purrrr. Slightly confused, I looked into the carb to see if it was dripping extra gas into the intake, (to account for the proper cold start mixture) bone dry. Thought maybe it was the lead substitute in the gas, I don't think so. I have a strong feeling its the coil pushing 40-60KV. I am posting this accidental discovery to let other cold starters know about a possible cure. Accel supercoil 55$ at most parts stores. Paul Vance, Las Vegas New Mexico
