The earlier tractors had a curved pipe type seat support and there was a tool box attached under the seat. When they changed the seat design there was no place for a tool box and I think that may be when they came out with the light bar tool box. I have a light bar tool box on my H and a tool box mounted to the frame under the carb on my M as mentioned below. The box on the M will hold the crank and close but I don't think the light bar box will hold a crank and be able to close the top. My Dad used to carry the crank for his H between the side rail and the engine block below the magneto. I've never seen anything that looked like the official place for the crank.
