I typed 310609 into the archive search box and read a few posts from the past. It appears your engine is a 172 cubic inch engine from either 1958 or 1959. Your serial number appears to be incomplete. There should be diamonds before and after the serial number. To me, it looks like the battery acid that ate away your full model number also ate the first few digits of your serial number. Have you tried finding date codes on the rear axles and radiator? Since you have a 172 engine and since you have a 5 speed trans, your tractor has to be either an 851-D or 861-D. Either that or it used to be an SOS tractor that had its tranny replace with a junkyard 5 speed at some point. If that's the case, the model number and serial number are irrelevant since they got adopted when that replacement tranny was installed (the numbers are stamped on the tranny case).
