I have owned a MF410 and ran several others over the years. I own a real nice 1980's something MF 550 now. It has basically the same tansmission setup. The shift linkage may not be adjusted right. Under the cab the shift linkage can be adjusted. You will see a bolt with a set screw on it. The square shaft will slide in and out of a tubular shaft. The owners manual details this. It gets out of adjustment when the transmission is dropped or raised to adjust the variable speed belt. Actually you should loosen this bolt before raising or lowering the transmission. If the shift linkage is adjusted right it will "pop" into gear and more likely stay there. If you don't have the owners manual ask and I can find mine and send you the instructions. Actually trial and error adjustment could make it definately better. It is something like loosening the set screw and bolt. Then center the shift lever in the cab between the top two gears and the bottom two gears. Go underneath and push the transmission rod back and forth and find a center. Lock the bolt and set screw. Try the shift lever again to see how it works. Shift one way or the other if necessary. Good luck.

The thresher would bring in the harvest (and income) once a y
